Some of you know me...
and my story.
Well, Evelyn and I's story.
That is where this journey began.
This photo was taken 4 months after I lost Evelyn. This photo shoot was originally for her newborn photos and because those didn't happen, I decided to use them for me and my girls. To celebrate the life I still had, regardless of my loss. The reason I'm still here is because of my midwife, Gretchen, my nurse, Michelle, and my Doula, Kendra.
(My husband was on a 7 month deployment when I gave birth).
It is because of the love and compassionate care I was shown by these life-giving women, that I am still alive. No Mom in history hasn't wanted to die after losing a baby, at least I don't think so, even as a passing or fleeting thought.
So my vision?
I want to create a network of wonder women. The women who give life to those families when they need it most.
If you are here to serve those women and families and want to be a part of something bigger, your in the right spot and I'm SO happy you are here. Truly.
Thank you.

Testimonials
Vallen created a course full of heavy content and somehow made it simple to get through. The course provides both, practical and emotional, tips for navigating loss and supporting families through this challenging time. Vallen also takes time to ensure providers are taking care of themselves, which is crucial when performing in any caregiving or support role. I'd highly recommend this course to anyone work in or around Obstetrics or Labor & Delivery. This is the kind of content that can literally save a life.

I found Vallen's course on Pregnancy Loss Education both comprehensive and holistic. This course covered everything from the different types of pregnancy loss, to supporting birthing parents in and out of the hospital to supporting families and siblings as they also navigate this grief-filled time. Vallen weaves in her own story of loss throughout the modules, and uses her own experience to humanize the course for her students. She is extremely knowledgable and compassionate, and does a great job of helping other birth workers prepare for loss. This course also includes many ready-to-use resources for birth workers, so that we can apply what we are learning right away. I especially appreciated her self-care checklist for doulas! Thank you for creating this course, Vallen!

After taking the Pregnancy Loss course, I feel much more confident supporting a family through loss. I've had my own experiences with miscarriage but sometimes that's not enough to feel confident showing up and holding space for others. This program gave very practical ways to support someone. Vallen does a great job at helping you understand the mental space a family may be in, and how it may or may not be what you expect. She also does a good job recognizing men's needs and how they usually look different. I love the cheatsheets that Vallen provided as that is something I can print and put in my doula bag to have on hand. Overall I feel less scared talking about the topic and more capable of understanding and supporting a family who has gone through a pregnancy or infant loss.
I signed up for the Pregnancy Loss course because I knew I needed to gain more skills and confidence on the topic. Pregnancy loss can be scary to think about and so I haven't put much energy into learning practical skills to support families that I may encounter. I've started and stopped programs on this topic in the past, but I knew it was time for me to face the discomfort and educate myself. Other than my discomfort, there wasn't much that made me think twice about taking the course. It was good timing and the offer made sense because again, I had been putting it off, knowing that I needed this education. I would recommend this course to others. It is time to get past the taboo nature of this topic and empower ourselves and others to be able to navigate and heal from pregnancy loss which is common.
